The Lion and the Mouse: A Short Kindness Story
The Lion and the Mouse is one of the oldest and best-known fables, and this is our short animated telling of it.
In the classic story, a big lion catches a little mouse and could easily eat it. The mouse begs to be let go and promises to help the lion someday. The lion laughs, because how could something so small ever help him? Still, he lets the mouse go. Later the lion gets caught in a hunter's net and can't break free, no matter how much he roars. The mouse hears him, comes running and chews through the ropes until the lion is free.
What kids can learn
No act of kindness is too small, and nobody is too small to help. The lion was kind when he didn't have to be, and that kindness came back to him. The mouse kept its promise, even to someone much bigger.
Little kids often feel small, so this story lands well with them. It tells them their help counts.
Talk about it: Why did the lion laugh at the mouse at first? Can you think of a time a small person helped someone bigger?
