The Iron Duck, the Loyal Pup and the Sky Serpent
This short story is told like a legend. It stars two of our regular characters, the duck with iron legs and her loyal puppy friend, along with a big serpent in the sky. The title asks a question: myth or truth?
We keep this page short on purpose, because the fun is in watching it. The duck and the pup are best friends who stick together, and that's the thread through all of their adventures.
What kids can learn
The "myth or truth" question is a good one to borrow. Kids ages 5 and up love sorting stories into real and made-up. A sky serpent is a creature from legends, so this is a chance to explain what a legend is: a story people tell again and again, often about heroes and strange creatures, that isn't meant to be taken as fact.
Talk about it: Do you think a sky serpent could be real? Why or why not? What makes the puppy a good friend?
